When the Baja Llama team hears about a global event celebrating fashion, creativity, and innovation, you better believe we’re booking tickets faster than you can say alpaca poncho. This year, Peru Moda Deco and the Alpaca Fiesta joined forces in a dazzling showcase of fashion, design, and some of the fluffiest creatures on the planet. The Baja Llama team couldn’t resist the call of adventure, and so, with passports in hand and wild prints on our backs, we set off for Peru.
What are Peru Moda Deco and the Alpaca Fiesta?
Peru Moda Deco is where the world comes to celebrate Peru’s craftsmanship, merging ancient traditions with cutting-edge design. From sustainable fashion to jaw-dropping home decor, it’s a whirlwind of artistry and inspiration. But wait, there’s more! Held in conjunction with Peru Moda Deco, the Alpaca Fiesta focuses on Peru’s beloved alpacas and the luxurious wool they produce. This isn’t just a celebration; it’s a full-blown ode to alpacas, complete with fashion shows, artisan workshops, and even fleece competitions that are fluffier than a cloud-filled Andean sky.
Why Did Baja Llama Go?
We’re always on a mission to traverse the globe in search of the finest fabrics and inspiration to create exceptional products. Adventure, exploration, and a damn good story are what drive us - and Peru Moda Deco and the Alpaca Fiesta delivered all three in abundance. With their emphasis on sustainable materials and ethical production, these events were perfectly in sync with Baja Llama’s commitment to creating responsibly while doing cool stuff.
Our goal? To connect with like-minded creators, gather inspiration for our next collection of wild prints, and maybe (just maybe) find a secret llama whisperer along the way. Did we discover the fabric of our dreams or meet our next alpaca manufacturer? Stay tuned for an exclusive sneak peek at some epic pieces inspired by this journey. Spoiler alert: the pisco sours at the afterparty might also deserve a shoutout.
Our Personal Experience
Peru Moda Deco featuring the Alpaca Fiesta was a tradeshow like no other! It was a sensory overload of Peruvian culture, blending ancient traditions with modern flair. From soaking in Arequipa’s insane views to learning from master weavers who’ve been creating mind-blowing textiles since the time of the Incas. And let’s not forget Peru Mucho Gusto - the live culinary extravaganza where we dove into crispy, golden chicharrón, sipped on refreshing chicha morada, and toasted to the magic of Peruvian cuisine. As if that wasn’t enough, we kept fueled and inspired with Peruvian espressos and wine tastings squeezed in between meetings. Hands down, the best work trip ever! The highlight? Attending the industry Gala Night in Arequipa’s stunning Historical Center. No suit? No problem!
In true Baja Llama fashion, we turned it into an adventure. A quick stroll to Arequipa’s fashion district led us to a charming little shop, where a sweet lady named Maria worked her magic and fitted Jeff with a suit on the spot. One ceviche, two pisco sours, and a whole lot of laughs later, we were dressed to the nines and ready to hit the dance floor. It was a night we won’t soon forget - proof that with a little creativity (and Maria's expertise), you can always say yes to cool shit!
What’s Next for Baja Llama?
If you know us, you know we don’t just attend events - we absorb them. We came back from Peru Moda Deco brimming with ideas for bold, new collections that weave together the spirit of Peru’s artistry with Baja Llama’s fearless approach to fashion. (Did we mention alpacas?) Stay tuned for how this trip will influence Baja Llama’s next chapter, because one thing’s for sure: it’s going to be anything but boring.
